Get to the Root of Great Hair

You can use the most expensive, high-end haircare products… and they won’t do a thing to help your hair grow.

I’ve seen it over and over again at the Sears Institute for Anti-Aging Medicine.

Patients come in, full of despair because their hair has started to fall out — sometimes in clumps, sometimes right along the hairline.

I take a holistic approach with these patients… In a moment, I’ll share how you can treat alopecia with unique natural ingredients that will trigger hair growth. But first, I want to explain why I’m more interested in getting to the root of the problem.

You see, in most cases, hair loss has nothing to do with your hair. And everything to do with your overall health, which affects the health of your hair follicles. Let me explain…

There are two main reasons most women experience hair loss.

1. Your hormones are out of balance. For a long time, people thought that testosterone caused hair loss. But researchers made a big mistake. As it turns out, testosterone protects you from hair loss.

The real culprit is DHT. It is the hormonal process of testosterone converting to DHT that shrinks hair follicles and causes hair loss in both men and women.

Another hormonal reason for hair loss is a decrease in progesterone. This hormone helps hair grow… When levels drop, it triggers an increase in the production of testosterone.

A simple blood test can determine if your hormones are out of balance. If test results reveal too much DHT, I recommend using a bio-identical progesterone cream to help restore proper levels of this hormone.

2. You’re feeling way too stressed. Severe stress increases cortisol production. This forces the majority of your hair follicles — more than two-thirds — into a prolonged resting phase. When this happens, hair falls out and there’s no new hair to take its place. But it isn’t permanent — if you get your stress under control.

I’ve been using pregnenolone to successfully help patients reduce stress. After your 30s, your body produces much less of this master hormone balancer. But boosting levels brings cortisol back down to normal levels.

I like to see test results around 200 ng/dL for women. A blood test will show if your levels are low.

But don’t worry if they are. You can restore youthful levels by supplementing. Start with 5 mg to 10 mg and work your way up to 50 mg if you need it. As with all hormone replacement, low doses for short periods are usually best. If you think you need more than that, I recommend consulting a hormone specialist.

Restore Your Hair to Its Former Health

The best way to grow long locks is by massaging your scalp every day. And the research backs it up.

In a recent study, nine participants received a four-minute scalp massage each day for 24 weeks. At the end of the study, all of them had thicker hair than they did at the start.1

The results of a second study were even more dramatic. In this study, 340 men and women with androgenic alopecia — or male pattern baldness — massaged their scalps twice a day for an average of 15 minutes.2

By the end of the study, 69% of participants said that their alopecia had greatly improved.

Here’s how it works… When you massage your scalp, you activate hair follicle germs (HFGs) — the cells that help grow hair follicles.

HFGs are mesenchymal stem cells that exist right below the surface of the scalp. And this kind of research attacks the root cause of baldness.

Regrow Lost and Thinning Hair Holistically

There are a lot of handheld scalp massagers on the market. But you really don’t need anything except your own two hands…

Use all 10 fingertips to apply medium pressure to your scalp in small circles. Work your way around your entire head to cover all areas. For the best results, massage your head for at least five minutes a few times a day.

But for even better results, I recommend massaging your scalp with these two oils…

Black Cumin Seed Oil. Black cumin seed is rich in beta-sitosterol, a very potent natural DHT blocker. A recent study found that black cumin seed oil can help regrow hair and add new life to thinning, frail hair. More than 70% of study participants regrew or experienced fuller, thicker, more luxurious hair.3 A second study found that the oil stopped 76% of hair loss in just two weeks.4 Look for organic 100% pure black seed oil.

Rosemary Oil. My favorite way to improve circulation and stimulate hair growth at the root is with essential oil of the herb rosemary. In a recent study that looked at 100 people with hair loss, rosemary oil applied to the scalp showed to be equally as effective as a leading hair topical solution at increasing hair growth.5

The rosemary plant also contains something called carnosic acid. This has been shown to heal nerve damage and restore tissue in the scalp.6
