Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words.
In a moment, I’m going to show you dramatic before-and-after photos of a record producer in London who had a severe case of adult chicken pox. Eight days of battling the virus left devastating scars over 75% of skin. J.M. was self-conscious and hated leaving the house…
But this patient chose to have a microneedling procedure done. And like I said, the after pictures have to be seen to be believed.
If you’re not familiar with the process, microneedling is a dermaroller procedure that uses very fine vibrating needles to prick the surface of the skin.
Each puncture breaks the blood vessels directly below the skin. And as these invisible wounds heal, they create new collagen and elastin. This leads to smoother, firmer, more toned skin.
This Gives You Young, Stable and Resilient Skin
You already know that collagen and elastin are proteins that support your skin’s underlying foundation. They keep your skin stable, strong, firm and resilient.
Platelet-rich plasma therapy or PRP uses natural compounds from your own blood to regenerate skin and revitalize collagen.
It’s an amazing procedure that brings remarkable results… younger-looking, smooth, blemish-free skin. Here’s how it works…
First, I take a small amount of your blood and run it through a centrifuge. This separates out red blood cells. It leaves behind plasma with a high concentration of platelets — the same cells that help blood to clot.
Platelets also contain hundreds of growth factors. These proteins are critical in key stages of wound healing. They regenerate injured tissues.1
That makes PRP a powerhouse for reviving old, tired, sagging skin.
Studies show injecting PRP in the face and neck revitalizes skin.2 In one study of 10 volunteers, doctors saw a significant improvement in skin firmness and less sagging. The volunteers also saw a big improvement in their general appearance and less wrinkling.3
If you are a regular reader you already know that Dr. Sears has been recommending PRP treatments to add volume to your face for years. In fact, it’s one of the most regularly requested aesthetic enhancements requested at the Sears Institute.
It can fill in under-eye hollows…. reduce fine lines and wrinkles… remove dark circles under the eyes… lift sagging around the mouth… brighten skin… and eliminate dark spots.
Roll Your Way to Smooth Skin Easily at Home
Earlier, I promised you dramatic before-and-after pictures. You can see how well microneedling works from the photos of J.M.
Microneedling revived J.M.’s skin after chicken pox scars left him with no self-confidence.
And you can easily revive and refresh your complexion at home using microneedling or dermarolling. Here’s what I recommend you look for in a product:
- Needles made of titanium and not surgical steel
- 540 needles for better coverage
- Choose needles between 0.5 mm and 1.0 mm
Follow these steps when using your dermaroller.
- Clean and disinfect your roller. Soak it in 70% rubbing alcohol for 10 minutes
- Wash your face. Using a gentle cleanser, thoroughly clean your skin. If you will be using a needle longer than 0.5 mm, wipe your face with rubbing alcohol first.
- Use a numbing cream, if needed. Not everyone needs one. But if you are using a 1.0 mm needle, an anesthetic cream can help. Make sure to wipe it off before rolling.
- Start rolling. I recommend working on one part of your face at a time. Roll in one direction 5 times, lifting the roller after each pass. Only roll in one direction and roll vertically.
- Go back again. But this time, roll horizontally over the area.
- Apply a generous amount of moisturizer immediately after.
- Stay out of the sun for 24 hours. The next day, apply a sunscreen underneath your makeup.
- Don’t derma roll more than every two weeks. Your skin needs to fully heal and regenerate before repeating.
